Master Thesis Project
Title: Improved predictability of Aerodynamic forces in real life driving using CFD
As a next step in enhancing the capability with automotive aerodynamics CFD we would like to include the impact of aerodynamic forces as a function of varying wind attack angles corresponding to real life conditions. To be able to introduce this verification in the daily project work there is a need for increased accuracy and time from CAD to results
The overall aim of the thesis work is to study and model typical real life driving conditions to enhance the aerodynamic evaluation of a vehicle using CFD. This includes automatization of the current yaw sweep simulation process but could also include vehicle overtaking and platooning
- Literature study
- Refine CFD mesh
- Scripting for automation of sweep angle
- Participate at aero wind tunnel test
- Analyze results
- Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Physics or similar.
- Significant interest in aerodynamics and CFD
- Good knowledge of CFD in general
- Basic knowledge of ANSA and Fluent is an advantage .
